About the Studio
OUR APPROACH

The creative forces at Ortenburg Interior Design are not limited to any particular style, but instead embrace boundless possibilities. Each project presents a unique opportunity to explore the worlds of our clients, which are translated into expressive, characterful, and thoughtfully considered spaces.

Our studio has garnered recognition for the confidence with which we combine various elements to create a layered and intertextual aesthetic. Drawing on a rich inner world cultivated through a lifelong love of art, architecture, fashion, music, literature, and history allows us to weave together a unique visual narrative that is tailored to the requirements of a project.

Combining a meticulous & uncompromising design methodology with seasoned practical expertise, the Ortenburg approach places our clients at the center of the process, allowing them to express and celebrate their identity through the spaces we create.

Fundamentally, our purpose is to elevate and enrich the lives of the people who inhabit these spaces.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Named in homage to ancestral roots in Southern Germany, Ortenburg Interior Design is headed by Australian designer Juli Kokinovska, whose experience in the design and construction industry spans 30 years.
Creatively inclined from a young age, Juli was continually recognised for her artistic abilities throughout school, eventually gaining distinction in the 1989 Art Express.

Initially intent on becoming a fashion designer, Juli's love of technical drawing turned her ambitions toward architecture and interior design.
While studying interior design, she worked as a merchandiser for a number of luxury retailers in Sydney before starting her own practice.
Over the years, Juli has honed her flair for creating striking spaces with innovative use of colour and architectural forms, reinforced by an ever deepening knowledge of construction and design practices.

Originally based in the metropolitan bustle of Sydney, Juli relocated to Port Stephens where she established a studio with her son Justin, an architecture graduate, classical musician, and seasoned sketcher, in 2019. The duo remain closely involved in all aspects of the design and management process, while overseeing a dedicated team of design professionals, to deliver exceptional projects across Australia and abroad.
